Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship Research | The Pitch

The Hudson Library & Historical Society’s Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship Research will celebrate the fifth anniversary of its successful Entrepreneurship Series this fall by hosting a very special event.


On Monday, October 28, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. the library will hold a “Pitch Night” where entrepreneurs will pitch their business ideas to a panel of expert judges. Participants will need to apply online. for one of the six 20-minute time slots available. All applications will be prescreened. All applications must be received by Friday, October 18, 2013.


Pitches will be evaluated based on initiative, impact and innovation. This event will be conducted in closed-door sessions, not in front of an audience. Panel judges who will evaluate the six finalists include Jim Cossler (Youngstown Business Incubator), George Buzzy (TECHudson, JumpStart & YBI), John Dearborn (JumpStart) and Cliff Reynolds (GLIDE).


The competition will reward applicants with technology-based businesses that are designed for high growth and sustainability, and have the potential to raise significant outside capital for continued growth. A $3,000 cash prize will be awarded to the first place winner, second place will receive $1500 and third place will receive $500. The Burton D. Morgan Foundation of Hudson has generously sponsored the prize money.
