BioHio Research Park
BioHio Research Park is an affiliate of The Ohio State University (OSU), located on the campus of OSU’s Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center (OARDC) in Wooster, Ohio. OSU/OARDC leaders and the Wooster community conceived the institution as a logical economic development program for the region, based on the agbioscience strengths of the university and business strengths of the community. The institution is committed to safe, healthy and affordable food and agricultural products; sustainable food and agricultural systems; strong rural and urban communities; stewardship of natural resources and the environment; and keeping Ohio positioned favorably in a global economy.
Among its many functions, BioHio is a vehicle for moving agbioscience technology into the marketplace. The organization currently offer leasable land for development in the Research Park, as well as office, laboratory, conference room and shared services incubator space in OARDC’s Pounden Hall Technology Development Center. BioOhio also offers easy access to OSU resources such as the Technology Commercialization and Knowledge Transfer Office (for technology licensing) and the Office of Research (for company/faculty collaborations).
In addition to space and entrepreneurial support, BioOhio offers access to unique facilities, including the Plant & Animal Agrosecurity Center (PAAR), a BSL-3 facility; the Center for Diagnostic Assays; a pilot plant for natural products extraction and processing (PENRA); a feedstock processing plant; a bioenergy and bioproducts pilot plant; a molecular & cellular imaging center (MCIC); and many other research & pilot facilities. Its proximity to OARDC and to OSU’s Agricultural Technical Institute (ATI) offers excellent opportunities for businesses to identify quality employees and interns.
