JumpStart provides intensive business assistance to early stage tech-based Northeast Ohio companies in the sectors of healthcare, IT, cleantech, and business and consumer products. The nonprofit venture development organization has a deep commitment to diversity, with a special focus on providing specialized resources to accelerate the successes of women, minority and inner-city young companies.

JumpStart’s experienced Entrepreneurs-In-Residence (EIRs) work one-on-one with clients on an ongoing, regular basis to help young companies meet important growth milestones. EIRs often act as an added resource or even as a member of a startup’s team to help them make steady progress, with the ultimate goal of guiding an entrepreneur to funding that supports the next stages of his/her company's growth.

The formalized JumpStart Mentoring Program—which pairs established entrepreneurs, executives and experts with emerging entrepreneurs—is another resource available to clients. Driven by the belief that a diverse network is crucial for the long-range success of a startup, the program channels the experiences and social capital of the region’s successful entrepreneurs and industry experts, with the aim of enhancing economic outcomes and accelerating progress in Northeast Ohio.

JumpStart’s tech talent program assists client companies in their efforts to recruit and retain entrepreneurial talent at all levels. An in-house team of HR consultants solicits, screens and interviews talent for startups at a free or dramatically discounted rate. In addition, JumpStart’s program teaches companies best practices—such as how to spot, hire and keep talent, or how to build and manage their Boards of Advisors or Boards of Directors. JumpStart also promotes and advertises tech talent job openings via social media and a weekly email communication, Connect for Tech Talent.

JumpStart also helps connect entrepreneurs to other resources available to them across the region. From community loan funds to incubator space, if you apply through the Network and would be a good candidate for another provider’s opportunities, JumpStart will help make that connection for you.
